In early 2014, Elcora Advanced Material acquired the full operational control and a 40% equity interest in Sakura Graphite (PVT) Limited, who operates the Ragedara mine in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka graphite is very high quality with many unique properties. It is suitable for use in many high-end graphite applications. The mine is already in production and currently yields about 500 tonnes per year.

Elcora developed its own unique graphite refining process that does not require the use of acids or alkaline systems. This process is very environmentally friendly and yields higher quality graphite that has not been oxidized and will withstand high temperatures.

Graphene is a single sheet of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal honeycomb pattern. It is the thinnest material known to man, and is fairly described as a game changing in regards to its properties: it is stronger than diamond and about 100 times stronger than finest steel in the same size; it conducts heat and electricity more efficiently than copper or any other material known. It is flexible and almost transparent.
